Look for quilt backings that have 'fun' or simple motifs that you can use to quilt your quilt top. After your quilt is basted, baste an eighth of an inch all the way around the edges (this is used as a guideline and holds the top in place). Flip the quilt over and use the motifs on the backing as your guidelines for -

your quilting design. This can create unique quilting designs on the front and there is no marking involved! I once used a hibiscus print on the back of a very brightly colored quilt top, and the results were beautiful! Fabrics with bare chested men might be fun, but you might have a hard time concentrating on your quilting!
