Keep Sharp!

A lot of quilters do not like to use sewing pins. Sewing pins are your friend. Use them to line up seam allowances, to create sharp points in blocks, or to apply borders. To get sharp points on a block, insert a pin perpendicular through the point on the front and the place it is to meet on the piece underneath. Then take two pins and-

place one pin horizontally on each side of this pin into the fabric. Remove the first pin. Pins are also great to stitch borders onto quilt tops by making sure ends meet and edges are lined up evenly. Pins will also help you avoid a visit from that dreaded seam ripper!



I once heard we have it backwards; we're supposed to clean the house after a party, not before the party.
